Hep B free -- yippee!

Hey all -- just a short post mainly for the benefit of those who read this now and are still in the process of waiting to meet their little ones. When we came back with Lucy and got a mass of tests (10 vials of blood drawn -- horrible!), one of them came back with a somewhat ambiguous positive for Hepatitis B.

We had no medical history for her at all, but it did seem like she had an inoculation mark on her arm for something or another -- we just didn't know what it was. We ran a more extensive battery of blood tests and all of them came back negative (or came back "appropriate" ... one was positive but it was the one that showed that she'd had an inoculation -- I don't get the medical parts of this process that well).

So all is well, and it's a big big relief. I remember reading somewhere a long time ago -- someone's blog, or APV -- about someone in a similar situation, and their more extensive tests came out fine as well. I was glad to have the tiny nugget of almost-forgotten information in my head as we waited for the confirmation, though, so I hope this helps others who might run across the same thing later.

P.S. 4 shots' worth of inoculations. She was a real trooper. What a good baby.

Great news on the negative results! BTW... that innoculation mark is probably from the TB vaccine... both my SE Asian kids have it. :-)
