So I realized today as we were leaving school that Lulu might be just a little bit of a racist. Every Asian woman we passed, she called "Kai Lan." Seriously, like four or five times. Happily she didn't enunciate well, so I don't think people realized she was calling them all a bobble-headed Chinese cartoon, but I did (and I must admit I thought it was really funny). It's a compliment -- she likes Kai Lan!

She has no idea she's Asian, right? Hilarious.
Too funny! Sounds like something Aiden would do.
My kid thought that every black short kid was named the same thing as his best buddy.
Our boys love Kai Lan. When they see Dora on things they call her Kai Lan! Unfortunately- we live in a not so racially diverse area of town... When our new President was running for office they could often be heard calling strangers on the street "Omama!" I guess that's not such bad racial profiling... :)
Too funny! It reminds me of when Tank Boy first came home and when we'd see an Asian woman while out and about Midge would say, "I think that was Tank Boy's foster mom!" She was only two, but she could talk a blue streak.
my girl calls everyone "backpack"... have you seen the Dora in Chinese? they sing, "backpack backpack" and it gets STUCK in your head like hell. like hell i tell you.
random things now are just... "backpack".
thats so funny! My nephew went up to the rice aisle at a local supermarket and pointed at uncle Ben and said "there's Obama Mommy, he's on the box look!", his mother, my SIL was mortified!
My girls can differentiate, they know what Obama looks like, and the two year old can spot his photo a mile away, but anyone of Indian descent is called 'Naimisha' after a family friend...it's funny she has figured out typical Indian 'looks'...I guess she's racial profiling!
