Sad!

Mainly so I can remember this beyond the 27 minutes my brain usually manages to retain information: Lucy is very emotional these days; she frequently recognizes emotions in others (real people (Dad's happy! Dad's mad! No mad for dad!) and only-real-to-her people (Boots crying! HoHo mad!)), asks if we're happy, etc. She's also a bit emotionally fragile these past few weeks; I think there's some anxiety related to half her preschool class "graduating" and leaving and a batch of new kiddos scheduled to come in in a few weeks, and other stuff going on.

But tonight, she was watching no more than 45 seconds of SpongeBob -- she likes the character because her speech therapist has a doll, but has never actually seen the show -- and we happened to catch a scene when one of the characters punched SpongeBob out. She BURST into tears out of sympathy for that spongy creep. SO sad for him, so scared! It was truly, pathetically, hilariously adorable.

No more SpongeBob for Lucy, though.

i LOVE that she has this natural compassion! i was exactly the same as a child, exactly! beware. next she'll be dragging home every stray she finds and begging you to help her 'save them'. :) what a heart she has.
